Third Requirement --- Own Story

Run Mimi, Run
by Carlo Lucero

-oOo-

"Asdfghasdfghasdfgh ... Kuya"

I heard something. I don't know what really was it. I tried to open my eyes, but it closed by itself. I'm too tired to wake up. The only thing in my head was SLEEP.

"Gising na kuya, may nangyari kasi kay Momo. Kuya!"

That voice, soft and sweet. So it was just my little sister.

"Oww? Nu ba yari ke Mo-o"

I was too tired to talk, too, that even the words coming out my mouth was not understandable. You can't really blame me. Teenage life is more of nights than mornings. We are the modern vampires, or as they said.

"Kuya, hali ka na kasi. Tingnan mo si Momo"

She opened my eyes and blew it. And what are you to expect? WIDE AWAKE. No, not so wide. (Not like this ---> O.O, but just like this ---> o.o) It was just enough to bring back the sleeping spirit in me. And with no alternatives to choose from, I decided to go check my little sister's rabbit, Momo.

"Oo na, sige na, susunod na ako. Magsisipilyo lang muna ako."

"Dali-an mo Kuya ha?"

"Oo na."

And the little girl went out of my room. And now i can sleep happily. The End. Just kidding. So i stood up stretching my arms in the air.

"Gooooooo ... (wait for it) ... ooood Morning World, Urg!"

After some more stretching, I walked straight to my Comfort room, and after doing the morning stuffs, I went down to see my sister and Momo.

I caught my little sister carrying Momo's body, crying. I felt weak,of course, not from having lack of sleep, but of guilt. Momo was a good pet to us. Momo and his wife, Mimi, brought happiness to my little sister, and to us, too. And now, i can't believe he's already gone. I should have woke up earlier and should have done something that can save Momo.

"Kuya, patay na si Momo."

i don't know what to say. Should i tell a joke to make her smile? should i just nod and do nothing while she cries? or should i offer a ... yes, i should offer her help to bury Momo.

"Gusto mo tulungan kita ilibing si Momo? Magiging masaya siya kung maganda ang libing niya."

She nodded and went around the house to collect the things needed for the burial of her pet. After she had gathered the things, we went directly to our garden for the event.

I guided her on how to decorate the box to make it the best coffin for her pet. And while she's doing her decorating-related stuffs, i dug the hole where the box would be placed.

"Oh, natapos mo na ba ang pinakamagandang libingan?"

"Malapit na kuya. Patapos na to. Inaayos ko nalang ang mga flowers-flowers nito."

"Mabuti naman kung ganon. Gusto mo tulungan kita?"

And she nodded. We enjoyed doing the decoration for the box. And when it was finally done, we placed Momo inside the box. She seemed to be happy seeing Momo inside the box. I felt happy seeing her that way. But not after she said the most horrifying words a 6 years old girl could say.

"Kuya, ang saya ng ginawa natin no? Gawa tayo nito ulit. Patayin natin si MIMI."

Second Requirement --- Poetry

The Demon within ME
by: Carlo Lucero

There's a flame within me,
that burns everlasting.

A true devil's ego,
simply undying.

Like a dark witch's heart,
ready to go killing.

Yet, my soul embraced it,
with my arms opening.

There's this chain,
which is continually moving.

I love what it feels,
Just keep it flowing.

The demon within me,
as vast as the ocean.

This is really it,
because i am a POLITICIAN.

First Requirement --- The Best Story for Me

We can't deny the fact that LOVE STORIES strike the hell out of us, boy or girl, man or woman, or even the in-between-genders. For most of us, ROMANCE is what colors life. A story without romance in it is just like the early years of television movies, BLACK and WHITE. Can you guys imagine a movie with the absence of love story? Me neither. Even the most brutal-themed movie has a little love sparkled over it. So i think you won't disagree if i say NANKING STORE by MACARIO D. TIU is one of the most colorful story in contemporary literature.

I'm not good in summarizing but i prepared this summary for me to share how good this story is. Hope you'll understand it the way i understood it. xDD

NANKING STORE
by Macario D. Tiu

The story was about a newly wed Chinese couple, who wanted to have a perfect family. The love of the couple for each other was very strong, but not after a problem arose between them. The Chinese couple, Linda and Peter, soon to realize that they can't have a child. It was the worst thing that could happen to a Chinese family, for the bloodline to vanish from the world . Who would pay respects to the ancestors? It was unthinkable. Peter was the family's only hope to carry on the family name, and he still remained childless.

Linda was then maltreated by her in-laws for her incapacity of giving a child to her husband. Rumors had spread about the infertility of the couple. Peter was the one who is mostly affected, being labeled as a "bad stock". But of course, Linda was also affected, very much affected. Their marriage was obviously changed. They separated intellectually. The once happy couple became opposite.

Peter became very determined of having a child, and so as proving everyone that he's not a bad stock. In his determination, he had affair with a Bisayan lady, and they eventually had two children. Peter earned back the respect of other people, by proving that he is not the one who is incapable of producing a child.

One day, Peter encountered an accident, and died instantly. Everyone cried for him, Specially Linda. The death of Peter worsen the maltreatment of his parents for Linda, knowing that she was really the reason why they can't have a child.

Days had past, people noticed the change in Linda's appearance. She seems to be getting fat. People around her had mixed reactions, knowing that she was infertile. People then suspected that Linda's pregnant.

Linda returned to her town, in Cebu, and all other people never heard of what happened to Linda. Other people even wondered if she had given birth to a boy.

Isn't the story stunning? No? Oh, sorry, my bad. I really think i'm not good in telling stories. But i swear, that the story is really good. You should read the whole story for yourself to appreciate it.

The very reason i love the NANKING STORE story is that it inspires everyone to remain faithful to someone you love. Faithfulness is really something in a relationship. That something will bring the couple to forever. (I actually never been in a relationship, but i'm sure about those things). And also, what i learned about this story is that we, as an individual, must not be affected of what others tell us, simply because, at the end of the day, those people are just nothing, they'll just remain talking about us.

The structure of the story NANKING STORE was cool. It was perfectly arranged in a way the readers could understand the flow of the story. The words used was "nose-friendly"(wouldn't result to nosebleeds xD), but not "eyes-friendly (too long to read xD). Actually, when Ms. Izza, our down-to-earth professor in literature, assigned us to read this story, i refused to do so. For it is really long and i'm not sure if it is worth to be spent a couple of minutes. But when Ms. Izza showed us the summary of the story, i can't barely count how many times goosebumps stroke me. It's really worth to read. I should have read this story even before Ms. Izza required to do so.This story is closed to perfection for me.
